Lukáš Tofan graduated from the Institute of Creative Photography in Opava, Czech Republic, in 2019. He belongs to a new generation of photographers for whom the landscape is a metaphor for the ongoing social, cultural and economic changes in society. In his photographs he sensitively depicts everyday situations, which, however, have the ability to uncover the meanings hidden in the daily banal, in what is overlooked, and neglected.

What am I trying to say with my work?
„To celebrate the ordinary. I like to focus on places lacking any public attention whatsoever. Places that gradually soaked into our subconscious like the image above the couch or tree that we pass on our everyday routine way to work. Shabby concrete grain elevator building surrounded by parked trucks and heaps of unnecessary material is invisible to most people. For me, these anonymous landscapes have an extraordinary ability to tell the story of the current periphery, society and the time of our lives.”
